Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)


Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental health condition presented by difficulty maintaining attention. According to CDC, it is estimated that 11% of children have ADHD, while 4.4% of adults have the condition. That means averagely, 1 in every 10 children have this disorder. For adults, 1 in every 20 adult.

The statistics above alone shows that this disorder is very under diagnosed in Nigeria.

There are three types of based on diagnostic criteria;
  • predominantly in attentive type
  • predominantly hyperactive/impulsive type
  • Combined type
Clinically, symptoms would have been present for at least 6 months prior to screening & assessment
